Casa Bosque

Architecture 2011

This residence is located in the Bosque Monarca residential development in Morelia, Michoacán, and was designed in full compliance with the neighborhood’s construction regulations. These guidelines not only define technical and spatial constraints, but also reflect the ecological values of the community. Among the key requirements are the preservation of green space surrounding each home, the integration of sloped roofs on at least 65% of the total roof area, and the conservation of as many existing trees as possible in order to minimize environmental impact. These parameters informed every stage of the design process, ensuring that the residence harmonizes with its natural surroundings while contributing to the overall character and sustainability of the development.

As part of the architectural guidelines established by the residential development, the design incorporated sloped roofs, natural stone materials, and the preservation of existing pine trees, prioritizing harmony with the surrounding environment. These foundational elements were enhanced through the use of exposed finishes that celebrate material honesty, and large windows strategically placed to capture the site’s exceptional views. Together, these design choices create a balanced dialogue between built space and natural landscape, reinforcing the project’s commitment to contextual sensitivity and visual openness.

This residence stands as a quiet statement of restraint and intentionality. Through the use of exposed materials, such as stone, concrete, and glass, the architecture embraces honesty and tactility, allowing the raw beauty of each element to speak for itself. The minimalist approach prioritizes clarity, clean lines, and functional elegance, creating spaces that feel grounded yet open, refined yet warm. While many of the surrounding homes follow a more traditional style, this project reinterprets those vernacular elements, like the sloped roof, in a modern and minimalist way. Designed for a young family seeking a contemporary lifestyle, the result is a thoughtful balance between tradition and innovation, offering a calm, enduring space for present-day living.
