Shopbop is a global online fashion retailer known for its curated selection of women’s clothing, accessories, and designer collaborations. With a distinct editorial voice and high-end styling, it’s both a shopping destination and a source of fashion inspiration.
The Challenge - Shopbop came to us looking for two things: An evergreen ad they could easily refresh with new product feeds, and creative seasonal campaign ideas that felt elevated, interactive, and true to their brand. We also needed to optimize both visuals and messaging for performance, without sacrificing the premium look and feel they’re known for.
I designed the first round of mockups, using their editorial stories and web assets as a inspiration. Fashion and e-commerce are areas I’m deeply passionate about, so working with Shopbop felt especially exciting.
Since this was a prospective client, we weren’t given graphic assets, so I sourced the graphic assets from product images, styling shots, fonts and layout references, pulling directly from their site to ensure the visuals were perfectly on-brand.
The Solution - Together with my team, we came up with five unique concepts, ranging from minimalist to editorial. We focused on building dynamic, interactive formats that could adapt to screen size and feel native to Shopbop’s design language.
The three final prototypes included:
All versions were built to be flexible, shoppable, and completely interactive.
The Process - I started by sketching out a low-fidelity mockup in Photoshop, then collected all product assets from Shopbop’s website. I built high-fidelity prototypes using After Effects and our in-house tools to simulate the user experience as realistically as possible, this helped us get quicker buy-in from the client and ensured the mockups looked and felt premium.
Once the creative direction was approved, my team helped bring it to life by implementing the product feeds and coding the ads for launch. The client was really pleased with the initial mockups and appreciated how carefully they aligned with their brand identity. Their internal approval process is fairly detailed, so they valued how easily they could visualize the final product and how flexible we were with tweaks. The evergreen ad launched and ran throughout the year, and we continued creating updated versions for each new season.
This project reinforced how much I enjoy working with fashion brands and how important it is to blend creative ambition with practical performance goals. Shopbop’s strong identity gave me a lot to play with, and the creative freedom they offered made the process genuinely fun and inspiring. This project was a great example of blending high fashion aesthetics with interactive performance design. We gave Shopbop a polished set of creatives that looked like an extension of their brand, and helped meet customers wherever they were in the conversion funnel.
